Pediatric Dermatology is an expanding pristine subspecialty of dermatology that covers all the aspects of skin disorders occurring in children. In spite of numerous textbooks of dermatology being available worldwide, there have been only a few countable textbooks dedicated to pediatric dermatology. Hence, there has been a constant need for such a book, especially in Type IV and V skin with various diseases and their illustrations, which is not known to the Western world. “Color  Atlas More Details and synopsis of pediatric dermatology” is a comprehensive book embracing all skinrelated disorders in pediatric age group. The author of this book, Dr. Sandipan Dhar is an internationally acclaimed Pediatric Dermatologist and a very popular figure in India both among Dermatologists and Pediatricians. With his immense knowledge and prodigious experience, he has compiled finely detailed clinical images with a practical approach to their diagnosis and management.

This is an exclusive book not only helpful for Pediatric Dermatologist but also for practicing dermatologists, pediatricians, and postgraduates in pediatric and dermatology specialties. It is written in a very simple language that can be easily understood by the readers. This book contains more than 300 entities and 1000 illustrations. It focuses on the basic concepts of skin, care of newborn skin, neonatal dermatoses, various nevi conditions, infections and infestations, genetic disorders, eczematous conditions, papulosquamous disorders, vesiculobullous disorders, pigmentary disorders, nutritional skin disorders, metabolic disorders, vasculitis, collagen vascular disorders, and adverse drug reactions.

Different types of syndromic and nonsyndromic ichthyosis have been illustrated with good clinical images. Bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections have been dealt in detail. The most common teenage issues such as acne vulgaris, scars, and pigmentary disorders are described. Various clinical images of hair and nail disorders have been illustrated. Another, a unique feature described in this book is sexual abuse and sexually transmitted diseases in children and their diagnosis with management. Chancre, condyloma acuminata, and herpes genitalis can present in children and dermatologist should be aware of these conditions for early interventions and proper counseling.

Emphasis has been laid on patient education and counseling. Counseling the parents about the disease and its prognosis is an important aspect in pediatric dermatology. Overall this book provides a compact and comprehensive knowledge about common and rare dermatoses seen in pediatric age group. Each page containing a unique “Quotable Quote' below the text is another novel feature of this title. Incidentally, this has been the first book on pediatric dermatology from India and subcontinent and very few in the world to publish 3rd edition of a book on the subject.

I strongly recommend this book for all pediatric dermatologists, dermatologists, pediatricians, and postgraduate students in pediatrics and dermatology in India and abroad.
